Clinical Therapist (PhD PsyD/LCSW/LMFT/LCPC)

About Us:

CLAY (Continue Learning About You) Therapeutic Services is hiring for an experienced clinical therapist to join our fun, supportive and collaborative team. We prefer to hire a candidate with a minimum of 2 years’ experience that holds their PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT or LCPC, but will consider someone with their LPC if they are close to clinical licensure.

We are a collaborative and engaging private practice located in Schaumburg, IL.  CLAY Therapeutic Services developed and came to fruition in 2014.  Kate, our founder, wanted a practice where therapists were able to develop good bonds within the practice to minimize isolation and increase the collaborative efforts that were missing in her previous group practice experiences.  As an owner and clinician, she encourages “out of the box thinking” and knows that there are many ways to help patients address the concerns that they need to.   CLAY was born from the idea that we are all growing and learning, and it never stops.  We can still mold things in ourselves and have such positive impacts in others’ growth and development. 

As a group, we provide multi-disciplinary and eclectic mental health services to children, families, couples and individuals.  We pride ourselves on being creative in meeting our patients’ needs.  We believe in meeting our patients where they are at and rising with them as they address the issues that are important to them.  We recognize that therapy is a personal journey, and we are a key player in helping people get from point A to point B.   As a group, we work well together and bring humor and support to each other in a light and relaxed atmosphere.  It will not be unheard of to hear laughing in our offices often.  It is just a part of who we are and the attitudes that we have.  We like to work with one another and because of that, we are supportive in the office as well as outside of the office.  We encourage learning from one another and having a work life balance.   We offer W2 status and a competitive salary, as well as clinical and professional support and supervision.   

Primary Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for conducting intake sessions, providing individual therapy and/or couples therapy, and establishing positive and trusting relationships with clients. You will also be responsible for staying up to date on new treatments, protocols, and licensure requirements within the field and managing their own schedules.

Required Qualifications:
  • Illinois license in good standing (PhD PsyD, LCSW, LMFT LCPC, or LPC (if close to clinical licensure))
  • Professional liability insurance in good standing
  • Strong clinical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detailed organization skills and ability to effectively manage time
  • A positive and compassionate attitude
  • Driven with high energy
  • Sense of humor is encouraged
Desired Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of clinical experience, ideally working directly with clients
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of medical and behavioral health practices, modalities, and ethics
  • Prior experience in a private practice setting
  • Seeking candidates with specialties or additional training in:
    • Couples Therapy: Gottman, EFT for couples.
    • Trauma focus: EMDR, Brain spotting, Somatic, DBT.
    • Child/Family: Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Family Systems.
    • Hypnotherapy or CADC
  • Excellent computer skills and understanding (as we use EMR for billing)
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Position & Work Hours:

Work hours and schedule may vary depending on clients’ and CLAY Therapeutic Services’ needs. You are not guaranteed a certain number of client sessions per week. However, your schedule will include consistent referrals in addition to the need to exercise strong engagement and retention skills. Our focus is on your success as a practitioner and so we work on marketing strategies that help get you there. Our website is user- friendly and we have a number of other referral avenues to help build your caseload.

Your schedule will be co-developed and agreed upon. Specifics will be discussed during the interview.

Currently, we provide both virtual and in-person sessions in our Schaumburg, IL office.
