About Dominique Turner

Dominique is a licensed professional counselor who graduated from Adler University with his Master’s in counseling and a Specialization in Forensic Psychology. Dominique is an energetic therapist who demonstrates exceptional love for people, high integrity, and the ability to see what needs to be done. Dominique most enjoys supporting the client’s development and fostering their ability to make choices from a place of truth and enjoys helping clients find a more profound sense of meaning in their lives.

Dominique has experience working in community mental health settings with high-risk, vulnerable populations. His training includes an internship as a trauma mental health provider at a non-profit center in Evanston, Illinois, and a practicum at a private practice in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. He has provided counseling services to individuals, families, and groups. He has also worked with children and adults while specializing in criminal justice-involved individuals. Additionally, Dominique has experience with addiction issues, children suffering from trauma, clients with dual-diagnoses, and sex offenders. He provides excellent insight into his clients and is willing to engage in discussions openly.  He demonstrates a strong desire to help others and is passionate about providing quality care to those he serves.  He wants them to achieve their best selves.

During clinical sessions, I use counseling interventions from brief psychodynamic therapy, career counseling therapies, cognitive-behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, existential therapy, Gestalt therapy, interpersonal therapy, narrative therapy, person-centered therapy, Good Lives Model as well as motivational interviewing, behavioral modifications, and others.  I like to meet my clients where they are at and intervene with what I feel they will benefit the most from.

I understand and value all people’s uniqueness and focus on the client’s mental development in an open, honest, compassionate, and respectful manner while providing feedback. Most importantly, I am compassionate, understanding, and a patient-therapist aiming to help individuals improve their mental health.
