About Silu Jacob

Silu Jacob, a licensed Social Worker, obtained my master’s degree from Dominican University. I have experience with children, adolescents, and young adults as well as a wide range of service areas, including substance abuse, trauma, and crisis management. I have also assisted clients in foster care, schools, and hospitals. I have work experience in coping with depression, self-esteem, and anxiety. My approach is to focus on my client’s strengths which may guide them to navigate through different issues in life. I am also my authentic self, a great listener, and grounded.
My interest in social work comes from watching my father work as a Social Worker when I was a child. His stories and experiences have inspired me to choose the same career path. I have seen my father do amazing work in the community and provide a helping hand in improving others’ lives. I believe I was passed down with those amazing genes and I also have the desire to help people.

My focus is to offer therapy services to adolescents, young adults, and couples. As a woman of color, it was challenging to find services that empathized with racism, culture, problems, and struggles that may arise in immigrant families. I hope to provide my clients with therapy services that address these issues as well while impressing hope and change for the better in their lives.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, dancing, traveling, and watching movies. I enjoy motherhood and I cherish every moment I spend with my beautiful daughters.

I love the work I do, and I look forward to meeting you and providing a helping hand through your journey of healing. I became a Social Worker because your life is worth my time.
